The Journal of Education is the official journal of SAERA since the Kenton Education Association was dissolved.
Focus and scope
The focus of the Journal is South African education. As such the focus is wide ranging and able to accept many topics, although issues internal to Education rather than external forces impacting on education are given preference. The journal aims to provide a forum for scholarly understanding of the field of education. The Journal aims to publish articles that
- show intellectual substance: high levels of theoretical insight and /or analytic empirical work combined with engagement on the key issues that face South African education.
- have wide ranging implications: the focus might be specific but the journal looks for articles that speak to a wide range of educational researchers because the implications for education are profound.
- present research- driven argument that combines substance with ideas.
The journal is committed to growing and supporting the community engaged in education research in South Africa, specifically through the South African Education Research Association and the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) of SAERA.
